Kalumpang Resort and Training Center 25th-26th April 2009

Wish come true..I need to see to believe that clear water is not extinct in Selangor.

Kalumpang is only 45km from Shah Alam using NKVE to Ipoh. Exit at Tol Tg Malim and take route towards Kuala Kubu Baru. After passing Kg Kerling, slow down and watch out for signage to Kalumpang Resort and Training Center in Kg Pasir Putih on left.

Once you are on the right road, there are ample signages to guide you thru kampong houses and plantation. 15 to 20 min later, a scenic resort emerges on your right.

There are cafes to accomondate dining for the resort on package deal and also Restaurant Bonda at the Kolam Pancing area.

We couldn’t believe of how niche is the place, well kept settings and friendly staff. We came to know you need at least a month to book a nice chalet by the river and we were considered lucky to grabbed the last chalet by the hill.
We had to walk up to our unit, passing few semi-D chalets, double storey chalets, hostels and bungalows.

Walkways are decoratively cemented with lush greens along sides.

We crossed the bridge and greeted by unbelievably fast gushing sound of water..so crisp the sound.

Then up the steep hill and in front of our 1 ½ storey wooden chalet. The design is so unique eventhough small. Ground floor houses 2 single beds and a bathroom. The loft is spacious for 3 mattresses and a balcony.

We were quite apprehensive about having just fan to cool off..considering how heaty it has been lately but as night crawled in, we were glad we only had fan..it was cooooool…… and there was also ASTRO.. ..
One wish list….water heater please..the water was too cold for a bath (ingat plak time naik CH dgn the girls last year..

We were out looking for place for dinner an hour later. A walk to the café right outside the resort entrance was greeted by the staff saying, they serve patrons with dinner package and none other (mmm…when I want to book for food package earlier, I was told it will not be necessary since we can order meal at RM6/head….)

That aside, we walked towards the restaurant at the Kolam Pancing area. The kolam is impressive, well lit and well kept but…no kaki pancing around. Up the hill, overlooking the kolam, we made ourself at home. We were the only customer and the food arrived promptly. We ordered fresh Talapia 3 Rasa, Udang goring tepung and Tomyam Campur. I am not so crazy about fresh water fish but this one fish tak smell hanyir lansung…I guess, the fresh river water to “blame”. There was our fish…

From the pond

To the plate

Ni udang dari pasar..

Meal for 4 at RM28…not bad for such sweet and fresh seafood…

Ape tuh?

Then we took lazed walk back to chalet, taking in the ambiance. We took another route back and saw the cabin chalets at the other end of the resort. There were lots of patrons and some of them are glued to super size projector TV, airing Piala FA final Selangor vs Kelantan

The man was still hungry when we got in so he wanted finished the last 2 pcs of pizza left from mobile lunch. The moment he opened the box, dozens of cockroaches feasting on the foods..eeeee….the girls jumped up the bed, scared. Luckily, the office got a can of shelltox and large amount spayed at nearly all nooks and cranies of the chalet..i presumed we would have killed a colony…so all food item stored tightly for the nite and fortunately no more crawlers through the cool nite..

Morning started around 9 for me and the girls. We were excited to explore the waters. We left the chalet for foods first and convinced the café to serve us breakfast of nasi lemak. Then off into the water…so chilled and at some end, deep enough for a dive.

Water is even clear enough for angah to capture a fish swimming so nearby

Angah also took snapshots of most stunning Raja Brooke and other species

Around 11, we walked over to the café for food and none ready so we walked up the restaurant by the kolam pancing again and surprise..suprise…the lady who kira the our dinner last night told us that they forgot to include the price for the fish…. ……kalu ikut hati…Go to @@@@.....tapi malas plak….so I asked her to kira again..baru le perasan..lagi pricey dari KL…the fish alone is RM15..fruit juice is RM2.90…so our dinner for 4 is RM43…you all out there..forget about having your meal here…”potong leher”….just arrange for meal with the resort and do bring along plenty of tidbits

No family holiday without some trekking up river. Not much discovery here cause, the long stretched of river were full of picnickers. Some of the land are privately owned but well kept….such lucky souls to own one…mmm..3 acre of land by the river sounds like an option..let’s wait and see..ni le trekker yg nak bersara kat sini

2 hours later, we returned to our chalet with little or no jungle specimens.. … We took our time to pack and checked out..
For less than an hour drive for clean water, this place is worth the trip but bring along food….

Quote:
1 ½ storey chalet 140 per nite. RM50 for deposit
RM5 entrance fee for daily picnickers
Resort caters for lots of group activities..SMK TTDI Jaya MPP Seminar was one of them
